Making Money on the Go
There are multiple ways to make money from your phone (either in whole or in part). Here are some:
I know this one will likely be controversial, but you can join the Quora Partner Program (QPP). Although, if you do decide to do this, please only ask questions, and request answers to questions, in a responsible manner. Please do not be one of those Partners that clutters Quora with spam. Please only act in a responsible manner. Please read up on how to behave properly before joining the QPP. Also be warned that many Quorans do no like the program (and it is true that irresponsible use of it is a detriment to the platform) so be warned that joining the QPP could cause some people to mute or block you.
Another way to make money on the go is with Medium by joining their Partner Program and turning your content into a product that you can be compensated for.
You can also join Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk). Many of the tasks (called “HITs”) can be completed from a phone. Although, to maximize your earning potential you will likely need to use a computer as well. This is because many of the HITs can either not be completed on a phone or are much easier to complete on a computer.
You can also make money by buying and selling items through eBay (and similar market platforms like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, letgo, etc.). eBay’s mobile app even has a convenient camera feature that lets you look up an item by taking a photo. There are many guides on how to find items to sell, but in short you can get them at garage/estate sales, through eBay, at thrift shops, by volunteering to clean peoples homes and garages, etc.
Another way to make money from your phone is through Upwork and other freelancing platforms (as well as old fashioned freelancing job boards). Although, the actual work may have to be done on a computer. However, you can submit proposals, communicate with clients, and negotiate contracts on the go, which allows you to stay in the competition for lucrative contracts.
There are also ways to make money through your phone by combining it with another object such as a car. These ways include ride sharing apps like Lyft and Uber as well as food delivery apps like Grubhub and Uber Eats. Another interesting app is OnMyWay, which actually pays you money for not using your phone while driving.
I don’t have much knowledge about them, but I also know there are investment apps that you can look into. There are also apps, like Rover, that help you make money providing a service like dog walking.
There are other ways, but please careful to avoid scams. A lot of people promise you easy money, but often times it is a scam. I encourage you to research and read up on common scams to avoid falling prey to them. Before accepting a new opportunity, do your due diligence and if you have your doubts then listen to your gut and walk away. Also remember, if it sounds too good to be true then it likely is. Also be sure to follow all applicable laws and to pay any applicable taxes.
This list is not comprehensive and I am sure there are many ways to profit from using your smartphone that I haven’t thought of, but this list should give you some ideas of how to get started. But please bear in mind that your results may vary when using these methods and you may not be as profitable as others. You may not even be profitable at all.
I previously posted a version of this post to Quora.
